I'm looking for the lyrics to Kauoha Mai (lena machado's tune). I've been to the regular lyric sites. Any suggestions?

Hey CM--
I looked in the jackets of 3 CDs I knew had the song (Martin Pahinui, Raiatea Helm and Lena, Hawaii's Songbird) and none of them had the lyrics printed. I remember that Kaiulani Martin who runs Huapala told me that Ms. Machado's estate is very protective of her work. You might go to www.huapala.org and email them to request the lyrics. She had a few Lena songs up when the site first started, but then had to take them off. Hope this helps.

I've sent the email. I have two CDs with the song without lyrics - next step: I'm going to slow down Martin's version and try to discern the lyrics from the performance. I know Martin, I guess I could ask him. |

Aloha kakou,
I made two little corrections: 1st verse 3rd line, and 3rd verse 2nd line.
This is the way Darlene Ahuna sings it. On his new CD Martin sings it a little differently (a ka waimaka, for instance) but I can't quite make out a few of his other variations....
