Hi Andy, Wondering if there is a way to make the membership info pages a sign in/ log on type of page so only registered members would be able to view it? Anyone else concerned about this? Mahalo, Kitty

I am to some extent. I'm using my full name on a few other boards, so I use it here too.
My immediate concern is to keep my email address from getting on any more spam lists. I hope and assume that the Snitz software has secured the members email address. Right Andy?

Is the security concern focused on the general membership information or more specifically on email addresses? Personally, I am more concerned about my email getting into SPAMMER hands.
It is possible to hide the membership information from all those who are not registered. However, if the sensitive info is specifically email, then that should be addressed.
I have been waiting for the Snitz software upgrade which will add a feature for everyone to choose to display or not display their email. Unfortunately, I do not know when the upgrade will be available. The original indication was 3 months ago, but it is tough to tell since they want to make sure all the bugs have been worked out before the official release.

Hi Andy, My main concern is the e-mail address - easy for me to say because that's about all the info I've given you so far But like Pauline said - some of you are using your full names, so I'll leave it open as to how much more than e-mail the rest of the members want more secure. Mahalo. |

I don't think it is ever possible to eliminate spammers unless you make it difficult for the people you want to email you. There are 2 subterfuges that can be used: an address that is not clickable but avoids spambots, e.g., xyathotmaildotcom, and what I have taken to doing: have multiple email accounts so that one is a spam trap that will have some good mixed in with the bad - use that publicly and give your "real" account out to only those folks you really know.
