Aloha kakou,

At 8:45 AM EDT this morning, I was startled to hear 2 segments on NPR Morning Edition about the Hawaiian Language,UH Hilo and 2 of our heroes, Larry Kimura (an acclaimed songwriter as well as scholar and activist)and Kalena Silva, It seems that the first Masters Degree in Hawaiian was awarded a few days ago. Sarah may have been the only person on the East Coast who understood the spoken Hawaiian completely. And, accompanying the pieces was a snippet by our favorite ki ho `alu kumu, Ozzie Kotani. Since most Mainlanders don't even know Hawai`i exists, or only associate it with golf and beaches, this was a blessing.

You can hear the segments at:

Reid,

Thanks so much for the tip. I listened to them both and they were great! Thanks, again!
