Anybody out there have any experience with reso ukes? Johnsons, Nationals, Beltonas?
Very curious as to your experience with them. Especially the lower priced Johnson one.
I've some reso National guitars, but am curious about the ukuleles.

I just have experience with my Morton tenor. I think it's great, but it's definitely in a different league than the Johnsons.

Gryphon had a concert-scale National wood-bodied uke with a matching painted coverplate recently. If I had any spare change at the time, I would have grabbed it. It was a very nice uke, and the concert scale is a nice "in-between" scale (more finger room than soprano, but the instrument wasn't as big as a tenor). |

Beltona's are made in New Zealand, which is where I'm from originally, so they get a big plug from me!

I own a Belton Blue tenor. I switched to Aquila concert strings so I could tune it high G. The fretboard and finish are outstanding. Good to use when picking with a group strumming. A GREAT value at the price! |

johnson ukes don't even come close to being what a reso should. i owned 2 and got rid of both.
i own 2 beltonas -- a "blue" concert size and a bell brass tenor. btw, i recently corresponded with steve, the owner of beltona. due to the bushwhacking the dollar is taking abroad, the wholesale price is rising to $750 -- elderly's retail price the last time i looked. there's a mint beltona blue for $675 on the fleamarketmusic.com marketplace click, frpm a cat i know to be trustworthy. also, steve has one of the last concert size brass ukes for sale at www.beltona.net
really, though, the johnson's are wall hangers. |

Rodger dodger, over and out everyone!
Appreciate the info. Subtle and direct. Uke, I appreciate the no holds barred suggestion (wall hangings) I kinda figured, being a National owner but knew squat about ukuleles. Craig and Bernie, yep, I'm looking at Beltonas'.
John, appreciate the feedback and the PICTURES. I'll see you over at Guitar Seminars again...thanks again for the links.
Chango..you crack me up! Keep em comin' brother. Yer a breath of fresh air.
