This is Ken,Ohio-Haole here...Aloha all, I recently started playing Kolowaka by Keola Beamer and thought I had it down until I heard his whole version , I think on his Soliloquy cd. What I have is the short version from 5 easy pieces, Wow I sure would like to know if anyone has tabbed or seen tab for the whole version the way he plays it on the Cd. I could attempt to tab it but I'm 51 and probably wouln't finish it till well in my 80's! Mahalo! Ken.

Ken - Sorry for the rushed posting -- I didn't dig out my copy of the CD, but jusrt a word of caution -- on probably most of Keola's CD ther are at least 2 guitar tracks. I can't remember "Kolowaka" - when I try to work out Keola's material, I settle for an approximation that sounds good to my ear. I've never played one of those pieces for anyone else and gotten bad feedback. Of course, I've never played tgem for Keola and most of my friends are not fanatic perfectionists.
Also - get one of the devices that slows down the music or use computer program -- I bought the $150 Tascam unit that plays the CD and lets you mark off any section you want -- replay, look, change speed, etc. Amound the best $150- I've ebery spent.
PS got you by 4 years. |

Hey, i can recommend a programm called "the amazing slow downer" from http://www.ronimusic.com that can slow down audio cd's and mp3's on a scale of 1% -200% whilst retaining the original pitch. You can also place start / end markers and loop parts of the song and loads of other features that are a. too numerous to mention and b. haven't used them either.
I've never used it on this kind of music, but use it often to work out 300bmp bluegrass leads..

Also good is "Transcribe" from Seventh String Software:
http://www.seventhstring.com/
Has the same ability to slow down while retaining pitch as "The Amazing Slow Downer" but also adds the ability to set markers and analyze a section of the music to help determine the notes being played. I wouldn't transcribe without it.

Do you know of anything that would allow you both to slow down the music AND change the pitch? (and is made for the Mac)
This would be real helpful for those of us who are too lazy to constantly retune--especially for all those funky numbers in F#, Bb, E, etc., not to mention the part-way betweens.
