Aloha TP,
I had to spend a day in the jury lounge waiting to complete my civic responsibility. With all that time, I had the inspiration to actually compose lyrics for a tune that I've been noodling with (Uncle Dennis would be proud). Maybe I've not been paying close enough attention, but I'd like to copywrite the song, but I don't actually know how to do this beyond saying it's copywrited. I sure you guys will set me straight. Thanks.

For general info, go to http://www.copyright.gov/forms/. This will give you the page where you can download instructions also. It's a good idea to learn the various types and ways of copyright.
For those who are extremely financially challenged, a compilation CD can be made which includes all your songs. This can be submitted as a single copyright. Make sure it is titled accordingly. Later, if it is necessary (someone wants Mechanical rights, publishing, etc.) any of the songs can be broken out singly as a new copyright. This is not ideal, but it will protect you.
