Yes, it is very suggestive. Accounts of the finds were all over the news yesterday. Of course, that string of islands where the Indo-Malay people originated is the putative source of the Polynesians. Those bones were dated to about 13000 years ago and there are suggestive legends that those little people were around in the 16th century. It is also true that there is another small aboriginal humanoid in Hawaiian legend, called the Mu (with macron over the u that I can't type). They lived in caves and were actually more in keeping with the newly found remains than the descriptions of the Menehune (who were stouter and stronger).
