it looks like it must've been a blast. i recognize some folks, including brittni and byron yasui. it looks a lot bigger than i thought it would be. it must've been great just hanging around catching the music and stories.
speaking of stories, what is the one behind the "kona walking stick"?
It started with a 2x4 and a piece of weed whacker string. I wanted to create a bass instrument that would be easy for someone used to the Taro Patch (open G) tuning. The end result is a really portable upright bass that is very easy to learn and has a warm and pleasing bass sound that really holds a kanikapila together well. Since many bass players were asking me about standard bass tuning, I now make the bass in three different tunings. I sold 6 of them at the UGH Exhibitions. Mostly taro patch basses - purchased by hula teachers and music teachers. Several were Christmas presents. I also got to jam with several wonderful musicians!
Konabob, Thanks so much for posting the pics. I also knew of few of those folks and probably knew more and didn't realize it. Looks like it was a great time. Thanks again, Dominator
