That was to get your attention!

Remember several weeks ago I posted that I thought I lived in the same town as Sam's son Conrad? I called him and left a message with his wife. That was at least 3-4 weeks ago. Figured he did not want to talk .

Guess who called me tonight? I really enjoyed speaking with Conrad. Conrad is a strong Christian and loves Hawaiian folk music. He also has discovered "blue grass"! His wife is from Huntsville (as is mine) which explains why we both live here. Anyways, we have agreed to meet and get our families together.

(as suggested by others, I did tell him about yoose guys)

Aunty D makes reference to Sam Ahia on her generous site, including a mention of Conrad.

It's not surprising that Conrad is attracted to bluegrass, with similar jamming traditions to that found on the islands. Think I'll pick my banjer tonight.

Thanks for the link.

Yes, there is some link to blue grass and folk. I heard Allison Kraus singing on a Ledward CD, song title: Waltz of the Wind. Beautiful.

I rcall reading on an LP by Gabby and Atta that they said that the closest thing on the mainland to ki ho'alu jamming was Bluegrass. (Though the only "blue note" is a flat 5.)
