There is an article and audio slide show on Molokai & Molokai Ranch in today's NYT at:

http://travel2.nytimes.com/2005/04/17/travel/17molokai.html

It shows the tentalows and landscapes around the Kaupoa Beach Village (and gives it raves) and, of course, scenes around the islands. Includes a startling pic of stars above the palms on the beach - a wonder.

It also talks about a bakery which just may be the "Bread Run" place.

Also, much to my gustatory relief, it says that they do goooood food at the remote village and, thankfully, you can buy wine at a store near the main hotel.

As we are signed up for Feb. `06, this just makes us salivate.

A friend of mine plays guitar with the Aki family (Lawrence Aki is the tour guide mentioned in the article) whenever he stays on Moloka`i - which is almost every year. They are good folks. Hope you get to meet them while there.
I didn't know any of these folks when I went to Moloka`i in 1989; I need to return someday.
*sigh*

Reid,

Appreciate the link. Fun little slideshow.

Everyone, be aware you will have to register for web access to the NYT website, but well worth it.

E Captain and Commander,

Windsor Locks???? Nuthin' there but BDL. Howz come?

But, you were in Southern New England which is almost the last stop on the continent for everybody else's weather (and pollution). Blame Florida (or Ohio...). So, if you don't like the weather now, just wait a day and you get something else vastly different.

BTW, we were in Windsor Locks on 4/21 (when you posted), for an hour, in order to catch the plane to SAN (more about that later when I get over *serious* jet lag). So, we probably passed right by one another.

Reid,

Right you were!!!

Next day after I wrote that it dropped something like 40 degrees.
You'd be correct. I was at Bradley to talk to Bombardier about airplane stuff.
Weird wx, but man......the LOBSTERS!! You just can't get real lobsters in Kalifornia. Was only there for 4 days, but I came off pretty impressed with Connecticut, quite pretty country. Although a bit weird being in such heat and seeing that the trees hadn't even budded out yet.
(relevancy tie in to follow).....I had a Hawaiian shirt with me.

Take care,
Mike
