Andy,
I love your forum. Would you please consider starting a thread for "Aloha Music Camp" one level down from General. Right now, the posts are all over the place. I'm trying to get an email seen by everyone as we have two empty seats on our charter back from Moloka'i. You could always remove the thread, or merge it into another, when camp is done. Right now, people need to be able to communicate. mahalo nui loa for considering this.

I received your email sent through Taropatch.net. Not sure what the error was all about.

Not sure I follow you completely but I agree it would be nice to have all the AMC posts in one place. Perhaps "Live Lessons" should become "Live Lessons, Workshops, Camps" so that all camp posts will be located there? Thought about creating an AMC section but then would probably need one for George's camp and the one in Waikiki and...

I could move all the existing AMC camp posts (not that many) into that forum. I am not able to combine posts into a single post. Would that help?

That's a great idea to put AMC, workshop, lessons, etc. under one heading. Since we are seeing more posts related to these upcoming events, it would be great to have them in one place.

I think the challenge is not necessarily where to put the AMC / George's / Led's thread, but rather how to make sure everyone can easily find them and understand where best to post. It's almost like one needs a table of contents, or a recommended place to find the suggest path to a certain topic. If everyone knows to go there, then no problem. Searches on this forum yield an entire thread, so that doesn't pinpoint it. Andy, it may be that somehow you have to suggest the direction here, and then tell people to check your "suggestions" or "guidelines" periodically. Then, you could say, "I'm recommending all AMC info related posts be done in the newly expanded live lesons, workshops and camps folder" (Or,whatever you call the topic areas.) etc. Do you have a good "soap box" on the site where you can get everyone's attention?

Can do. I propose posting all camp related posts to what will soon be the newly named forum. I will then post the guideline in the General forum as a sticky (stays at the top of that forum) which will remain there from now until summer. Should be clear where people should go.

If it sounds good, I'll try doing this before I go to bed tonight.

good idea - but not necessarily for all the workshops. But for AMC, Mark sent everyone to taropatch - what about George? It's the only venue we have for ride sharing, lodging sharing, looking for other specific activities etc.

Those attending George's workshops kind of naturally did some planning and coordinating here at the 'patch. Worked well enough that Mark thought it'd be good to make Taropatch.net the official forum for AMC campers too. I am open to discussion on whether a specific forum is needed for AMC or not.

Although I've participated in camp discussions before, the pre- and post-event gushing and reminiscing gets a little cloying and overwrought for those of us not able to attend the camps/major concerts/workshops.
I appreciate that the camp pre- and post-camp discussions get their own spot on the forum so those of us just looking for general info about slack key/uke and miscellaneous general topics don't have to wade past multiple multi-page threads about recent travel experiences. These are usually of interest to the 50 or so TPers who were at the camp.
Speaking as a non-participant, I do enjoy posts with photos and general reports about the events.

Yes, I think that folks who post about workshops and camp ought to post under at least a general heading like that. Andy already set one up but a small TITLE change would probably make it more clear. It there is going to be a separate Forum for a specific event (George's Workshop, AMC, Led's Event, etc) then there should be such Forums set up for every such known event. I think that this is not necessary at this point because we can (and have) titled our threads in a way that expresses the subject. And, it must be kept in mind that there are some crossover discussions, especially since TWO of the events are held at about the same time.
