This is slightly "off topic" so I posted it here. I just finished book which is very very worthwhile reading. "The Future of Music," by Kusek & Leonhard, Berklee Press, ppb list $16.95. -- Very easy to read, excellent analysis about how the difital rev is shaping the future of music, and the music business. Worth it alone just for the analysis on how the downturn in CD sales has more to do with the recording companies and distribution channels - and how they are "smoke screening" their blunders by attacked P2P file sharing. --- Prett quick read, lots of good material.

Aloha e Raymond, Call me quaint. I know I am techno-naive. But, as yet, I have not taken the "difital rev" into my heart. But, at the same time, I know in my heart I have never attacked P2P file sharing (that I know of). I'll go to mass (500 minimum), but I don't know what the future looks like for me. Please help. |

Sorry if posting above is not clear One of the points made in that book is that the recording industry honchos try to lump the file sharing, passing on of CD's, that goes on between friends, etc. with the mass pirating that goes on in some countries - it's a bogus smoke screen to cover up they way that these execs have massively screwed things up. (The argument in the book is more subtle, annd the book addresses more topics than just that one.) Even though I'm never going to be one of the "big" players, I think the book is worthwhile for two reasons: 1) it helped me understand some of the trends going on today, which gives me more ability to use them to my advantage 2) gives me ideas for marketing what I do. |

It's an interesting topic, but it should be called "The Future of the Music Business". We need to teach people that "music" and the record industry aren't the same thing. My guitar hasn't complained at all about P2P sharing. Jesse Tinsley |

Jesse you have your head on straight:) I do not approach what i do with music from a business standpoint. If it was up to business, all we wouold ever hear is what they want us to hear; the sounds we would hear would look just like your houme town drag, with Taco Bell, McD, Burger King, Home Depot all visible at the same time...aka elevator music And, to the artist formerly know as BWOP, are you confused? Still? Beware ...the ...difital ....rev |
