The Hawaiian language is an idiomatic language. Nanea Kou Maka is a good example of this where its understood meaning is something so delitefully risque you will not find it any music anthologies. However, you will find it in song collections. The first verse describes the desire and joys of making love as they are expressed in one's eyes. It gets more graphic in the following verses.

As for Raymond, in addition to performing his personal style of slack key, in his later years Raymond changed his persona and modeled himself after Gabby and did several cover versions of Gabby's songs.
