Hi Gerald . . . Just caught Dennis Kamakahi in concert last night . . . it was wonderful!
I, too, am on the hunt for some of his lyrics and translations . . . and I think I can help you with some of the songs on your list. For the others, I'll join you as a comrade in the quest!
If you email me, I'll share some of what I have so far.

I did send an E-mail to Dennis and he responded right away. However, he said there are no tabs for the songs. I was actually just looking for the chords (and lyrics) to play on the uke, so maybe wasn't quite clear. There are just so many nice songs on the "Ohana" CD, I want to try to learn some of them. I looked on the "Tropical Storm" website as well as a couple of others, but didn't find the songs I mentioned.
I agree that we as fans need to be considerate and not abuse his generosity. I would gladly pay for his time in compiling info such as the song chords and lyrics.

I hope folks won't take this the wrong way, but I would say- forget tabs, and just play! Tune up and try to play along with the cd and catch the chords that way. Hook up with other players and play along. Hawaiian music really is a kind of folk tradition that can and should be spontaneous and interactive. Once you know most of the basic chords, it will come to you. I'm lucky- I've always had a knack for learning songs by ear from records. Try to develop that if you can.
Good Luck!
