I am looking for tabs and words (would really like it if the words were coordinated with the note being played)to Palani Vaugh's version of "Ka Ipo Lei Manu". Mahalo for your help.

If it seems a little quiet on this thread, Pono, I would guess that few players here have gone back and tabbed out something that came out so long ago. Most are aficionados of straight slack key players. There are many versions of "Ipo Lei Manu" on recordings, but I don't think there are any teaching materials that have it. Also, this website discourages making tabs of copyrighted materials freely available on the net. Best to make contact with a teacher or advanced player of some kind. Perhaps someone here will chime in. Jesse Tinsley |

Vaughn's version is beautiful and you have good taste. I haven't responded because I haven't worked out that version, and, since I already have my own, am not so interested in doing so. (I also haven't tabbed my version out, and usually just share it face to face.) Not sure what key Vaighn's is in, but if you want to play it in taropatch, it's pretty easy to get the melody and basic chords. I can even send that to you. You can play with it from there. Jesse's suggestions are on the mark.
AND .... IMHO: In general, when people ask for specific arrangements, the odds of getting it are much smaller, than just asking for a basic arrangement. In addition, while I understand loving a version so much you want to play it yourself, in the long run I think we are all better off trying to struggle through making our own arrangements. Using someone else's as a base. OK Incorporating bits and pieces of others' work. OK. But for the final product, try to make it your own. |
