Maybe this is already in place, but is there an on-site glossary or link for those of us not familiar with all the slack key terms, such as nahenahe today?

Steve, Nahenahe is not germane to just slack-key or "Ki ho'alu". It is a Hawaiian word. One of the best web site to look up things Hawaiian is:
http://wehewehe.org/cgi-bin/hdict?l=en
For information, the definition for nahenahe comes out: quote: vs. Soft, sweet, melodious, as music or a gentle voice; soft, as fine cloth; softly blowing, as a gentle breeze; gentle-mannered, soft-spoken, suave. (PPN ngasengase)
If you have listened carefully, this word is the essence of ki ho'alu: quote: n. Slack key (the first and last strings of the guitar are tuned to D, instead of E; the strings are picked individually and are not chorded).
Hey, they don't always get it completely right! |
E nana, e ho'olohe. E pa'a ka waha, e hana ka lima. |

Mahalo, Mike
An excellent site. I've seen the term Jawaiian a few times, but couldn't find it in the dictionary. |

Jawaiian is slang and refers to Hawaiian reggae...it's a cross between Jamaican and Hawaiian.
