I heard about a bunch of surfers who jam w/ ukuleles after drying off on Saturdays in the parking lot by the life guard house on 27th street in Manhattan Beach. What a surprise!! There are some really good players down there! They know a lot of songs, they know how to sing, a guy named Mike puts out some terrific sheets with words, music and sound clip! One was headed to see Doug at Island Legends for a new Uke after jamming. One guy even pulled out a banjolele. I'll bet you folks have a thread about those here somewhere, but it was new to me. It was made in the 1920s, I think he said. They only played for an hour or so because it was raining and got a little cold. The ukes were under the raised door of a truck. Mike - I'll forward some of his work. Now if I could just find some more ki ho'alu guitar players....... But it's all fun!
