The lyrics are in the insert of the CD, which is a must-have album for any Hawaiian music fan. It's a great song, the only Hawaiian song I know of about the Vietnam War. Jesse Tinsley |

Jesse,
Thanks for reminding me about that song. Having lived through Tet, the words are very poignant. Makes me send more prayers for the boys in Iraq.
Gerald. The liner notes say Dennis is in open D tuning and as I listen to the song there are no surprises; just D - G - A. Should be easy to figure out.

Wow...nice to see that song referenced. My favorite 'chicken skin' producing CD of all time, the Hui Aloha album has some "sleepers" on it, especially Ke Kaua Laiki "The Rice War" ...If I'm listening to that album and haven't taken out my uke yet to pluck along, I always do when Ke Kaua Laiki starts up. It's an under-recognized classic, 'poignant' indeed as 'Ilio Nui puts it, especially for those of us of that generation. But it (unfortunately) is still only too timely now... |
