Surgery i an option, but i had both rotators gone and have rehabilitaed via light weight lifting to where i can again play handball with no problem. Only thing i cannot do is throw a large ball, like a softball or football, but strength has returned, no pain, and, no surgery. Email me if you want the regimen
YOu could also take up lap steel, easier on the left arm, i think.

BD1 - It was a great pleasure to meet you yesterday. I really enjoyed sharing our stories and love of ki ho 'alu. Thanks for signing my book. I look forward to my next trip to central Florida, whenever that happens (probably in 2 to 3 months or so.) Good luck on the shoulder. We didn't talk about this last night, but I suffered from a severely pinched nerve for about 10 years that prevented any guitar playing. It just took time for me to heal. Hopefully, this injury is fully treatable, and you'll be pickin' and grinnin' in no time. Thanks again for a very enjoyable evening.
