You don't need to have GarageBand to do this kind of thing, all you need to do is exchange instrument track files. I tried to get this kind of thing going several years ago with the "Virtual Kanikapila" and a lot of folks expressed interest, but only one person (KonaBob) sent a file back to be added to the kani. (I also got local submissions from Pulelehua, Hiram Bell, and Myself but the project is still unfinished)
GarageBand may make is slighly easie, but it is an easy task anyway, like the difference between writing with a pencil versus an erasable pen.
I am glad now that more people are doing this kind of thing.
Also, snail mail takes only 3 days so exchanging burned CDs is not that much worse than web transfer. It takes a couple of days to work with the material anyway.
