I read this fascinating story about an incident on Ni'ihau here:
http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/michellemalkin/2004/08/10/12647.html The incident helped shape the federal government's internment policy in WWII. Forgive me if the story has been posted before.
Although many find rightwinger Michelle Malkin to be over the line, the story is interesting.
