BAREFOOT NATIVES RETURN FROM EUROPEAN PERFORMANCES
DEBUT CD IN STORES MAY 23, 2006
WAILUKU, MAY 17 …The Barefoot Natives, featuring Willie K and Eric Gilliom, returned from Venice, Italy, having performed in honor of famed concert promoter Marek Lieberberg’s 60th birthday. On the first night of celebration, the duo from Hawaii wowed guests with selections from their debut CD, “Barefoot Natives” releasing Tuesday May 23. On the following evening, they fronted the famed Billy Joel band and once again brought the house down. Considered among the top Concert Promoters in the world, Lieberberg is responsible for recently bringing the Eagles, and Celine Dion to Honolulu.
While in Europe Wiilie and Eric took in many sights. “We tried to visit the Sistine chapel, but it was closed,” said Eric Gilliom. “So we checked out the seventeenth instead.” Like many Hawaiians abroad, food also played a role in their travels. “I’ve eaten enough spaghetti to last a lifetime,” said Willie.
An eclectic and electric musical duo, “The Barefoot Natives” blend music, culture and humor in an act that has been called “Indescribable.” (Kathy Collins - KEAO Radio), and “a tight blend of Hawaiian, hapa-haole, comedy and intense acoustic rock.” (John Berger – Honolulu Star Bulletin). “The Barefoot Natives” will release their debut CD on May 23, a highly anticipated project engineered by Grammy® winner Dave Russell.

Press release:
A SONG-BY-SONG JOURNEY THROUGH THE NEW CD: "BAREFOOT NATIVES", IN STORES MAY 23
WAILUKU, MAY 18 ... In a throwback to old time must-hear Radio, Maui community sponsored KEAO-LP - 91.5 FM, also known as Mana'o Radio, will present a comprehensive LIVE interview and journey through the entire Barefoot Natives CD on Monday May 22nd from 5 to 7 pm Hawaii Standard Time. Longtime Maui radio personality Kathy Collins will host this incredible song-by-song review of the highly anticipated CD, "BAREFOOT NATIVES", which will be available in stores the following day. Barefoot Natives WIllie K and Eric Gilliom will reveal secrets about the nine-month recording process, provide insight and background about the songs, and undoubtedly bicker like a married couple as this duo has become known to do.
"I know that I'll be ready to go", said William Kahaialii, known to fans as Willie K. "Eric should be too, because it's radio and he won't need to spend time in front of the mirror putting on make-up... or for that matter, doing his hair." The follicle-challenged of the pair, Eric Gilliom, agrees. "I think I'm ready. A few weeks ago I was relaxing, you know, hanging out at Charley's in Paia with the Dalai Lama... and he said to me: Eric, don't worry. It's time... you're ready for anything. I believe him... if you cant trust the Lama, who can you trust? But then he went to the bathroom and... if anybody out there sees him, tell him he owes me 13 dollars for his beer and onion rings".
(am listening to the CD right now...awesome pairing, these two talents!)
