The Talsma DQ uke was different, it was auctioned off for charity through Warren Buffett. You really can't compare the two. Talsma wouldn't charge $5500 to make a tenor exactly like the Jake one shown, and he's not a cheap luthier. This is what I meant when I said you can get something as good or better for half the price or less.

I doubt if any museum would be interested in a production model made to look like Jake's uke. Maybe Jake's original, but not a production line. I may be a crumudgeon, but having this ain't gonna make someone sound much better than they already sound (unless they're playing a real junk uke now,) just like having a Grimes isn't gonna make a mediocre slacker sound like Keola Beamer. |

I wonder if this ukulele is targetted as a big seller in Japan. I tend to be focused on my experiences at home but, once in a while, look at things from other perspectives. Any thoughts from Japan (arigatougozaimasu)? |
