Good to see and hear so many earth-friendly people on the patch. Must go with the music, eh? No need to preach to the choir, so lets just keep on doing what we can in our own little ways to make our dwindling resources last a little longer wihtout cmpletely destroying the land we were left by our parents to watch over. The trans-alsaka pipeline is an eyesore, but it also works, has been quite well managed, no major leaks (other than the drunk who fired a bullet thru it a few years ago) and it has provided us with lots of energy. Wind farms are a lot less destructive to land than a pipeline, there is nothing to leak, the biggest drawback being they can be seen for miles. Well, so can the thousands of high voltage powerlines criss-crossing the land everywhere you look inn the states. I do find it funny that whatever the proposed evergy source and no matter who champions it, how their tune changes when that source will be in their back yard (or front yard, as with the kennedys). That is why i have a hard time understanding why the Hawaiianjn senators and representatives often vote for ANWR drilling. If they found oil in Waiamea canyon on Kauai, would they vote for opening that, too? You wnat to see something that really messes up a landscape, try an oil field. |
