There are a few Hawaiian music videos, amateur and professional, at the popular video site youtube.com. There is a lot of junk, too.
Here are some videos I enjoyed.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdwIy3t-XnI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFe6PEtMgdg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd5OYUntmQg
There are also some novelty videos of Roy Smeck, George Formby and others that are interesting. Viewing the videos requires a high speed connection to the internet.
Perhaps some of you who are teachers (like Ray Sowders) might consider posting some simple videos to help us beginners.

Jesse,

Great clips. I hadn't seen those.

Youtube can be a dangerous time eater. Thanks for the short cuts!

I'll leave you with this one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnIbj0iYI0I

If anyone finds more traditional Hawaiian music on youtube, I'd like to get the links.
The second link above, labeled "Pili Me 'Oe", is a song I've never heard before. Anyone have the lyrics? I already looked at huapala.org.

It's in King's Songs of Hawaii---I'll have a go at typing it in & email it to ya :-)

The singers on the various "Waimea" youtube postings, are none other than kumu hula Kimo Alama Keaulana and his group (!!). Sure hope he includes this great mele on his next CD...

Hey, that was Uncle Frank dancing. He danced at our Luau last year. I think there is a picture of him in on the Luau photo page I posted. Cool stuff from everyone. Mahalo for posting the links.

What? You mean high "E" is the TOP string. No way dude! That changes everything!

Wow!! Thanks for that! I went on to watch Herb Ohta, Jr. play Over The Rainbow and it blew me away. All the more since I have played a jazz version taught me by Guy Van Duser for decades and Herb's is just so much better. I'm so glad you guys sent me there.
