Aloha kakou,
We want to introduce our new son, Kevin. Kevin left Guatemala City, where he was born, as a citizen of Guatemala on June 20, and become a US Citizen at Dallas/Forth Worth at 1:16PM that day.

Long term members know that I can have something to say about just about everything, but this time I'm nearly speachless. Sometimes I look at him and forget to breathe - it's like falling in love for the first time, all over again. It's also like chronic fatigue and sore arms (at 9.5 months he already weighs 23 lbs.)

Aloha E Raymond and `ohana. Congratulations! Hey - 9 1/2 months, just a good time for learning to walk and get into all da kiine. Babies are about the sweetest thing there is. There is nothing more magnificent than the honest, pure laughter of a baby. When they are happy, they are happy with all their heart, pure and sweet and no faking it. I'm sure you will have many tales to tell. Can't wait to see pics. Wow -- 23 lbs. makes him one keiki nui.

Now about our baby -- Marianne. She is almost 25 yrs. old. When she was little, she wanted to run away and join the circus. Well, now she actually is running away to join the circus. Her degree is in theater technology or something like that. She can do lighting and costumes and all da kine. She just got a job with the company that produces Disney on Ice and similar stuff. She will be leaving us on July 22 to report to Florida and will be traveling with the touring company doing costume repairs and various other tsks. First production is "High School Musical" on ice, no less. Maybe she'll be coming to a venue near you.

Me ke aloha
Malama pono,
Wanda

Aloha Raymond! So very glad to hear that your new life with your "son" has begun. I know at times it seemed as though the day would never get here but your patience has paid off. Looking forward to seeing you and Kevin some evening down the road at the Santa Clara Open Mike (which you started a few years ago). May God Bless you and your ohana...

Someday you will be sharing jokes with your son as he starts to develop a sense of humor. That is a great time for a dad.
Congratulations Raymond.

Allow me to share my brother's query after his 1st son was born: My bro said, "You mean they touch your stuff?" He was kidding! Get the keiki his ukulele early and teach him simple chords. On second thought, put the ukulele just out of reach and forbid him to touch it. Congrats!

Thanks everyone -
(The worst part of the process wasn't the paperwork, which was a huge volume, but it was waiting about 6 months for the Guatemalan Attorney General's Office to release the case, giving us permission to bring him home.)

Yesterday evening when I was playing the guitar for him, and Linda was holding him next to me - he started to reach over to the guitar - I guided his fingers to stroke an open G chord - I wish I was recording it - first that open eyed "what is this" look followed by a huge shout, laughing and clapping -- followed by a couple of dozen repeats of the strumming - this time on his own. (Not quite as full a chord, but, heh, he's only 9 months old, yeah?) This morning after getting changed and eating, and getting changed again, he kept fussing until I took him to the guitar and let him do his strumming thing again. God willing, he'll surpass my playing by the time he's 7!
And yes, he has an ukulele waiting for him, a gift from one of his "Uncles."
