Just thought I'd share for everyone who lives in a "Damp" environment like Hawaii (even Kona) that the new Planet Waves "Humidipak" is the answer for solid wood guitars.

Basically if you have a solid wood guitar (most Martins, Taylors, high end Takamines, etc.) you need to keep it at the proper humidity so it will sound good and the action will stay right. Usually, the problem is air that's too dry (Arizona, heated homes in the winter.)

The problem here in Hawaii is that it's too wet. Until now, the only products were to add humidity. To keep guitars dry, you had to use silica descicant packs (sp ?) that you find shipped with guitars, shoes, etc.

The Humidipak offers a "High Absorption" model that takes humidity out of guitars. You hang a couple in the sound hole, and one up by the headstock while it's in the case. A new kit is $25 (make sure you order the High Absorption) and the refill packs are $6. While the kit recommends 3 paks, I've been using 2 - one in sound hole & one at headstock.

Wasn't 100% convinced at first, but it has made the guitars sound better and less prone to random shifts in action.

Note - this is not really a problem with non- solid wood guitars - i.e. most Ibanez, Crafter, Fender acoustics.
