Poll Question:
At the suggestion of some of our members, I'm testing a new poll function. Please test it out and hopefully, nothing will break.
I have a few possible polls in mind but am open to suggestions too.

Thanks y'all for testing out the polls. Seems to be operating without causing problems to the rest of the board. Post or email me if you have any good "poll topics". To those where it's cold, stay warm! (It's 15 degrees out where I am. Whew it's chilly!) |

You certainly picked the right topic for a test, Andy. I know the poll is supposed to be anonymous, but I am the guy who checked "below 9". It was 2F at 8:30 this AM, and must have been about -10 or -15 last night. The wind chill is -30. And it was colder a few days ago. And we live on the "warm" coast of CT! We can keep it about 69 in the house, except for the 4 days it took to clean out our cellar fuel oil tank when our friendly tanker dumped 90 gallons of water in with 175 gallons of #2 fuel oil. Heating system siezed up until all the water had dispersed from the oil. It was truly dangerous here then. Lots of scary but creative ways to heat a house, so that it never got below 45 - but that is not really good for playing slack key or saving delicate guitars - thankfully nothing broke. I am now maintaining the RH of the house with simmering pans of water on the stove to supplement the humidifier. Got it up to 40% after 3 or 4 hours. This has been going on for *weeks* and I am really sick of it, and I ain't gonna take it anymore (appropriate line from that movie, but doesn't represent the true future). I am searching the web for airfares to warmth.
whingeing,

What I'd like to know is how come 56 people have read this thread but only 8 have voted? And how come, if we're supposed to be suffering from global warming, it's so cold? (It snowed at Cape Canaveral today.) |

fear of taking a stand? fingers so frozen that they can't do fine mouse control? eager members of the set of 8 repeatedly reading the results to see how cold it is? google robots snarfing results?
let's have a poll!
(andy, it's a great new function...)
aloha, keith

I agree. I especially like the way that once you've voted, the results of the poll appear in place of the poll each time you come back. |

Okay, Meghan wins. No more complaining from me... for at least 10 minutes. |

Andy,
When I choose a radio button and then click on VOTE NOW, I get the following message:
You cannot view the poll results before you vote! Go Back to Vote.
I also get the same message when I select VIEW RESULTS. |

Hi Dusty,
I'll check to see what gremlins are currently at work. Sorry about that. |

Ha! Now that the Super Bowl is over you can guess who's the only one in the 70-84 range! (Dusty must have voted at night.)

Nope. I tried on the 23rd when Andy first posted the poll and then about every other day since - and finally just now. All gave the same non-result. Maybe it's my browser (Netscape 4.73). I'll try tomorrow from work if I get a chance. |

Dusty,
Let me know if you can vote and view the poll result from work. Also, did you attempt to read the poll results before voting? That may have been a factor too.
Still trying to figure this one out. |

Yeah it was my browser. It worked with Netscape 7.0. |

Thanks for the update Dusty. There are issues that crop up, especially with older browsers. Not sure if I'll be able to make the fix, but I'm glad it seems we isolated the problem. |

Andy, How about a poll on ages or age ranges of players. I think I know where most of us fall; kinda curious to see if there's some young-er players. Poll worked fine for me too.
thanks, Ross |
