While checking Jake's website for upcoming gigs, I discovered that he's got online lessons there. I don't play, but for those of you who do just click "lessons" on the site's front page:

If you haven't seen Jake, he does a killer performance on the DVD/video "Hawai`i Songs of Aloha," where he performs "Noho Paipai" with Makaha Sons. (This is a great DVD, BTW, with artists such as Willie K, Brothers Cazimero, O`Brian Eselu, Na Leo, Hapa, Ledward Ka`apana, Cyril Pahinui, and Amy Hanaiali`i Gilliom performing 16 songs that run the gamut from traditional chants to modern pop.)

Craig
My goal is to be able to play as well as people think I can.

Ho! Da Funneeeee! I nearly split a gut. I really needed a good laugh - and it came with entertainment and education. What more could you ask for? Jake is killer as a player and as a personality. Changed my entire outlook abuot `uke and LIFE, as we know it in the lousy Northeast.

OK, errybuddy, play da 12 bar blues - no mo slack key.

mahalo nui loa.

And next time you're on O`ahu, go see his performance at the venerable Willows Restaurant (not Waikiki, but close by). The restaurant has become soooooooo popular with music fans (great all-Hawaiian entertainment; changes nightly), that they now have begun dinner shows. Worth every penny!
