Hi All:
I have a Kamaka soprano uke that I would like to change to low g.
I bought a Hilo low g string,
but is seems like the slot in the bridge is too narrow.
Does Kamaka have a special string for a soprano low g ?
Does the bridge need to be altered by Kamaka ?
Thanks,
Les

Bear in mind that while Reid recomends not gluing the nut in place, some folks do glue them down. Don't try to forcibly remove the nut. If it is glued, you may damage the end of the fingerboard with th force needed to break the glue loose. Proceed gently and carefully, and see if it moves. If not, it may be glued. You may be better off letting an experienced luthier remove it.If the slot is properly made, string tension should be all you need to hold the nut in place. Perhaps Kamaka would have recomendations for you.

wdf:
Thanks for the link, I have read through the thread,
I have sent an email to Kamaka to see what they suggest.
I definitely do not want to ruin the uke.
Paul:
I would guess that it is the slot in the bridge and the nut.
I am not going to do it my self.
I will probably just buy another uke for slacking .....
