A trailer for the upcoming documentary featuring internationally acclaimed film and stage actor Jason Scott Lee, and his effort to live more sustainably off the grid at his taro farm on the Big Island of Hawaii
.

It may look idyllic. But, bruddah, that is a hard life. Takes lots and lots of work. Takes lots and lots of planning and preparing. Modern life is easier. I would like to live life like that as well, but I am lazy. I like to run as much water as I feel like...heat up the hot water BEFORE I put the cup in microwave to make tea. I like to stand under the hot water and let it pound down on my sore back. I like having flush toilets and sewers. I leave the lights on all over the house, especially when I am home alone. I may have the TV on in one room and the computer on in the other room and the CD playing in another room.

But, this film made me realize that there are simple changes I can make to stop being wasteful and further hurting the land, whether I live in Ohio or Hawa`i or wherever.

OK, I am going to go and turn off all the lights now.

Me ke aloha
Malama pono,
Wanda
