Bob Brozman theorized about non-fretted instruments like HSG, Violin and other non-fixed pitch instruments...
They demand a constant ear-training for location of pitch, and I reckon trombone has no frets, and should fit his theory...
While it's not my favorite recreational implement, it has it's uses.
In Colorado, where concealed carry permits are available, I carry one in my trunk to play along with my 4th grade band...I can really honk (I use terrible bad-tone and pucker...but plenty loud)--so the brass kids really hear the correct partial/overtone they're SUPPOSED to, and rarely are, playing.
and it comes in handy during traffic altercations.
Illegal use? Go Tell it to Aunt Rhodie.
