Don't be girlie boys. We got Mapuana & Kihei DeSilva coming in today for the hula workshop along with a ice and freezing rain advisory. Schools here were closed 3 days this week because of weather. When we were coming back from W. Va., we saw plenty cars wiped out along the freeway where they slid off the road or turned around backwards or ran into the concrete divider or whatever. Wind chill on Tuesday they tell me was 15 BELOW zero. I garontee that is cold.
But actually that mountain picture looks very beautiful. |

Forget wind chill- actual temperature here Monday was fourteen below, and I have run out of space to pile the snow I am supposed to shovel. The mountains are indeed beautiful, especially after living here in the flatlands, but oh how I miss my tropical valley!

I really feel your pain :-)2 nights ago, it was ice, snow, sleet and 15 deg. - I had pants on, too, Chunk. Wind chills in minus numbers. We drove through it (very carefully) because we had commitments. A hydrogen tanker flipped on I84, north of us, puncturing the tanks and closing the entire area after locals were evacuated. No boom. Tonight and tom'w night, 10-15, first dry, then slush.
Dusty, your snow pix are much prettier than our snow pix, which we don't usually take because it is so ugly in Feb. here.
Come on Spring!

That dad-blamed Punxsutawney Phil said more winter. What does a ground hog know? We have the Certo ground hog under our back porch. She makes too many ground hog babies and it is plenty cold and snowy here. But, Kihei De Silva had slippahs on last night. He said he was trying to see if he could wear slippahs for the whole trip to and from Cleveland. Didn't work already. His tootsies got cold. |

When I took the picture, above, the storm was lifting and it was clearing to the west (over the ocean). Right after I took the snow pictures (I stitched 4 of them together for the panorama shot, above), I turned to my left (west) and got this shot of Catalina island.

Dusty, I love the views from your house. Especially with one of Ken's or Bill's brews and a little nahenahe music from one of the SCSKS Bruddahs or Sistahs. Think "Wahine 'Ilikea" would go good with these pictures, the kaona might fit in too, with snow instead of mists and waterfalls. . . |

My narcissus started blooming two days ago. My tulips and hyacinths are sprouting and budding at a good rate too. I too am waiting impatiently for spring.
Thanks for the beautiful pictures, Dusty. |

Spring flowers already??? We will get ours maybe in May. Meanwhile, I am watching Aunty Mapu teach hula with sweatpants under her pa`u. Even I am freezing. Beta blockers must make one cold. I shoulda had them when I was getting hot flashes a few years back.

But the surf was big all weekend. Morning Glass. Still wetsuit and booties time though. Wish I could still fit in my wetsuit - I'm under tall for my weight. |
