Just did a quick spell check and my spell checker wants to change:
Malama pono => Madame porno
I guess computers are not that smart afterall. Or at least they're not too good at Hawaiian.

You are right, computers are not that smart, but the nerds (I used to be one, but I am in a 12 step program and recovering) who program them are pretty funny, yeah. About a Hawaiian spellchecker: talk to Keola Donaghy about it. I bet he has one.

Yes, in the past I have spent some time fighting with Word's over-eager help, for example, whenever I typed "i", it would turn it into "I". I finally found a way to turn off this feature: under Tools —> Auto Correct, there is a list of often mis-typed words that Word will automatically "correct" for you. So it was in there that could change the instructions, to replace "i" with "i" (or take it out of the list entirely).
Meanwhile, it was pretty fersterating!

Sarah, thanks for the tip. I have that same problem when I type out the songs for my ukulele songbook. Aaargh!!! As if I needed "help" from Word. Sheesh. Julie |
