Here is an interesting bio about the man who is the creator of Reaper (an audio recording DAW tool) that is causing a stir in recording circles:

It is a few years old but still is an informative read.

I was thinking of trying out his NinJam (real time online jamming system that has an unusual way of getting around the speed-of-light problem) with Hawaiian music and some distant cohorts, but have not got around to it yet.
