Hello everybody. My name is Steve and I live in Central Point, in southern Oregon. I'm 52 and have played guitar in several settings for years, but have been challenged by slack key on and off for the past 10. I was introduced to Hawaiian music through my wife, who grew up on Molokai. She dances with a local hula group.

My interest in slack key started after finding a copy of Keola Beamer's first instruction book in a local music store. Then I heard Ray Kane, bought his video and have been a fan and a student ever since.

I'm visiting Taropatch to learn and to share. Mahalo.

Aloha from springtime Cleveland, OH, where the cardinals are making their nests and the gold finches are cleaning out my bird feeder.

Well, get your wife to register, too. We talk music, hula, language, culture, arts, and all kinds of silly stuff. We even get serious sometimes and discuss the `aina, politics, economy and assorted surndries. Many knowledgeable folks post on here and are so very kind and sharing of their expertise. You will like it here. One huge, big, jumbo `ohana.

I 'spect there are some folks in your neck of the woods for to kanika`pila with. And I 'spect probably plenty good live music and workshops somewhere fairly close to you. Lucky you live left coast.

Welcome. E komo mai.

Me ke aloha
Malama pono,

Aloha, Steve. Welcome to the patch ohana. Not sure about this "left" coast idea, we stay on North Coast. Across the wai is a foreign country-Canada.
