Aloha from hapuna!!!! Since I just gave PoiDog a bad time for not introducinig himself I thought I better say hello.
Born in Palolo on Oahu and flowing with the Kamakani thru St. Louis Hts. then Kailua with a large influence from Kapalama Hts. More poi dog than poi dog(but its close!) and now living in the Emerald State near Seattle.
I love the uke but have had difficulty learning it. Though SUPA is here it seems I have conflicts on those days they are near. I pound away on my ukes and hopefully eventually will be competent.

Aloha E Hapuna: Welcome to Taro Patch. Sounds like you Seattle area guys/gals already know each other. Our Seattle area friends are some of the most swell and caring and sharing folks there are. Oh, and they play nice music, too.
I'm glad you have joined us, make sure you grab a cup of kope and sit and wala `au with us from time to time. We like to flap our jaws on just about any topic you can think of. If you have tough time learning `ukulele, there are some swell folks here who can help you learn, I am sure.
Once again, e komo mai from cold and rainy Cleveland, OH. |

E sorry to hear that SUPA conflicts with whatever you are into. You know it is on the first Sunday of the month either in Ballard or West Seattle. Today it is in Ballard and Iʻll be there it would be nice if you showed up. You can then hook up with people since some of us also teach you can find any style you like learn o hea! It is a fun kind of session so I hope you have time. You can also check the lesson schedules at Dusty Strings it is a great music store. Welcome to the Loʻi. |

I live in SW seattle so I generally just try for the W Seattle events. I actually know quite a few folks in SUPA and like the group. I generally focus on the Hawaiian stuff. Again with Dusty its a long way for me. |

Hapuna's a good guy to know, too...even though he has "conflicts" with so many of the SUPA dates in West Seattle (you know, Russ, you can record those games and watch 'em later... )
If you are into Yahoo Groups, he's been running a fantastic resource there for years, called NWHawnCalendar. It's one of the best ways we've got for keeping track of concerts, activities and events in the PacNW. |

Alika, I have no trouble reading simple Hawaiian. I had Hawaiian for a couple of years in intermediate school and I'm told my grandparents only spoke Hawaiian to me and I understood it OK. I don't actually remember that far back. They died before I was 8. I have an affinity for language and have done self study of Hawaiian. It is frustrating as you need speakers to learn to speak well. Anyway I would have to answer a'ole to your question. |

Hiki no kela. If you need kokua, let me know. I'm not fluent, but I may be able to be of assistance. If I had skype we could practice speaking too. Awwwww... |
