i was just taking with a friend about `uke strings, and i popped a mental A string. so, let me unload here among friends...
you know those italian strings Aquila?
how do you pronounce that word? it turns out that it's the Italian word for "eagle".
here's a native speaker saying the word "the eagle" - the l in front means "the". just leave off the "l" sound at the start.

hi momi, yes, and it all comes back to eagles, even with the name of city L`Aquila.
phonetically, it's AH - kwee -la - stress on the first syllable, and a "kw" sound in the second (unstressed) syllable.

I knew it was the Latin word for eagle - but I didn't realise they were using the same word a few thousand years later! Excellent! |

Everyone I know pronounces it "TEQUILA" sans "T". 'Course it could be our close proximity to Mayheeko. Ric |
