There are a whole slew of Ledward videos on You Tube, newly posted this week by Hoaikane. For those who do not know, I post interesting and fun and talented videos that I stumble upon from You Tube every Sunday morning while I am having my cup of tea. You can look at the list under the "Talk Story" thread. Actually, I kind of work on compiliing the list all week long and then post it Sunday morning. Also, folks who want to make sure a certain video gets posted for all to see, often times send me the link to their video. If you have anything you want me to post, just shoot me a note through taro patch or to wcerto @ adelphia.net. |

Led plays in either standard GCEA or in a uke version of Taropatch tuning, GCEG. He uses the Taropatch C tuning for stuff like "Opihi Moemoe" on the uke. I have seen him tune the first G to an F#, for a uke version of "Weeha Swing." But he's usually in standard.

the few times I've been with Led, it's been like riding a roller coaster. How can so much fun be put into one person?
here's a distantly-related question - what does his name mean? i guess it could mean the person who is in charge of the weapons (it kind of fits).

You guyz jus get good fun. A birthday celebration is swell. It is joyful and honors that someone was born. Being happy to be alive and celebrating sounds like a swell thing to me. |

Marzullo -- the subject of Nedward's unusual name was brought up here awhile back, so I asked Sharon (Led's wife) for details.
Ledward was named for a family on O`ahu, who Mama Tina respected highly. The Ledward family is (or was) comprised mostly of firefighters.
Realize that "the boys" were born 60 years ago -- long before sonagrams for pregnant women were available. So no one knew that Mama was having twins, until Ledward was born...and then the doctor informed her that another one was soon going to make an appearance (!!). She had no other names chosen...another baby boy was delivered...she wanted everyone to know that they were twins and felt that rhyming names were important to that end...and thus Nedward was named.
Dontcha just love learning stuff like this?? I sure do! |

Yes, I like it too! I had an uncle named Ned but it wasn't short for anything, just Ned.

thanks maria... it is interesting - i have wondered where nedward came from. but, i was wondering about the family name. eg, "kahumoku" is "second mate", and "pahinui" is "large knife"...
(fwiw, "marzullo" means, um, either "little martius" or "little (one born in) march".)
