I play it in Open D (DADF#AD) similar to the Paul Togioka arrangement but with a different intro and outro. I don't sing it so I don't worry about it being too low. The Open D tuning suits my guitar better than the tighter Open E (EBEG#BE0. I used to live in Kahalu'u as a wee tynee keiki so this song is cool! Sometimes at Open Mike I get all "Led Like" and start moving my fretting hand all up and down with slides from the top and bottom -- cracks up the SCSKS bubbas asleep at the food trough. |

(blush) kāu mali leo, e `alika!
anyway, i'm just playing with the captain. we sometimes sing together along with gerry. mike has a great voice, and we've done some tight harmonies. although he claims we make him sing so high, he's getting worried what we'll ask him to do next.
aloha, keith

Can hear Uncle Jerry playing guitar on the song, all by himself (meaning no other guitars helping him out), from his recent appearance on Pakele Live. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOGFdNW1sBM |
