Aloha Gentlemen,
The uke bass in the photo is a fretless baritone. It does have the same strings as the Road Toad, and those are fret markers, not frets. I don't know the name of the pickup system that's inside, and I can't seem to reach the builder to get more info (sorry). But I can tell you that the pickup sounds great. Again, I think (if possible) you should see it in person and play it so you can really have a good idea of the piece.
Thanks for all the kind words regarding the photo posting. I'm sure I'll figure out how to do it, just need a little more time to play with the site. Will try again another time.
