An appropriate title for this article, as Aunty Mary Lou truly was the modern-day queen of the art of Hawaiian featherwork. She passed away early last week at age 82:

This is indeed very sad. One of the high points of our recent trip to O'ahu, was when our friend Lynn took us for a visit to Aunty Mary Lou's Shop on Kapahulu Street. While we did not have a chance to meet Aunty Mary Lou, we spent some fascinating time with her daughter Aunty Paulette. She showed us some of the treasures that she has on display. I came away with a much greater appreciation for the art form and much admiration for Aunty Mary Lou and Aunty Paulette. They single-handedly helped to preserve and perpetuate (through their students) an important Hawaiian art form.

I couldn't get the link above to open, so I'm including two other articles I found online about Aunties Mary Lou and Paulette.

The Angels in Heaven will have someone there, to help take care of their wings.
