You guys get all the fun, and here is one of the things I found on that web site. THIS would be the dream of a lifetime for me, to see and learn from Braddah Smitty. Why oh why are me and my `uke was over here where the temp was -4 yesterday morning?
Anyone going there, plese give my aloha to Braddah Smitty. See if can get him to sing Kowali/Koali. And if you have never heard him do Hi`ilawe, chicken skin the way he does it and changes to a minor key. Wow. --------
I have arranged for Bruddah Smitty to join our group kanikapila on Wednesday, February 11th at 6:00pm. If you have never had this experience you are in for a treat. He will do some songs for us and we will do some songs for him. He will tell us of his Laupahoehoe Music Festival coming up this week-end February 14 and much more.
Hope to see you there, and yes, we will be outside on the stage at Keauhou Shopping Center. Bring your ukuleles and guitars and come have some fun. Seeya there, Jack

Aloha Wanda, I will say HI for you on Wed. Night. I have been going and you are right it is one BIG party and all of the players are so much fun! You can not imagine how great it is for players of all ability to sit and play with the big guys and feel no shame if you just learning. Last week we had everything from fantastic to first time guy knew maybe three or four chords. I think all had fun. We have had Ukulele, Guitars, Bass, Steel, Violin, maybe other stuff I did not even see. Everyone makes room. Some nights so many people show up to play they are sitting on the grass I am not real sure but I think there were 30 or more players and we had an audience almost as big. I still can not imagine it me sitting and playing up in front of an audience. We have lights mics and evereything. HA what fun we all have with "Jam-da-Island" Wish you and your Ukulele were here. What a tailgate spread you and I could throw! Oh yea and the big guy and his guitar or Banjo would fit right in too. see I not forget you Paul. |
