You Tube, week of February 8, 2009
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3PwrDq6a1g – **** ding, ding, ding. Ah-oooh-ga, Ah-oooh-ga FIND OF THE WEEK - One of the most amazing versions of Pua Lilia I have heard. Zack & Peter Boy – chrai find who this is. Now you get more young people involved in the music. Holy smokes. Holy mackanoli. His profile says 18 years old. I say Bulaia, but still beautiful music.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W0P8qK7KNc – From Easy Ukulele ‘(Kainoa). Save the Last Dance for Me.. That `ukulele pa`ani going to blow you away!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGK_sHESElE – UkeUncle playing No Ke Ano Ahiahi. I know you have probably never heard me use this word before, Wow! He inspired me to work out on my `ukulele this week. Too much workout on the recumbent cycle, not enough on the uke. Uncle also has some really cool visual effects, as well as drums and an appreciative audience. Mahalo, Uncle.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZClAWm_LgAM – I have posted this once long time ago, but wanted to share it again. OOur friend Ballles1000 and his `ohana playing Hula o Makee Puerto Rican Hawaiian style. This (and everyong his family posts) just blows me away. Mahalo, Braddah Mike. I especially love the bass.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dtvNIJ65GU – a great song for Valentine’s Day. Jesse Tinsley so beautifully singing “Lei Aloha, Lei Makamae”. Ah.a man sings a song like that for you, what you gonna do…. But here is the weird thing. You know how when you watch one video on You Tube, when the video is pau playing, it suggests similar things you might like? Well, You Tube thought after listening to Jesse’s leo nani that I would want to listen to Nirvana/Curt Cobain doing “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. I did not. Talk about polar opposites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dtvNIJ65GU – Here is Kawaihae (Hoe Hoe Na Wa`a). Oh that sweet falsetto of Jesse’s. Ono. And here is another by Jesse ethat really got me revved up – Kupa Landing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ownv2Upl50I If you are ever in Honolulu, can go to the Maritime Museum and see how they used to lift the pipi with a type of swinging boom crane to get them in the boat. Talk about labor intensive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kVgdoIAqm0 – A little piece of Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett singing, dancing Poli`ahu.. Nani.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YU8KXaHRL4 – Na Palapalai doing Hi`ilawe and Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett dancing hula.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNMg2CcURBg How's this for a lu'au group eh?! Moon Kaukahi, John Koko, Jerome Koko (The Makaha Sons), Manu Boyd (Hookena), Glen Smith, Jerry Santos, Ken Makuakane (Pandanus Club), Keao Costa (Na Palapalai), Sean Naauau, Kaipo Hale, Amy Hanaialii-Gilliam, Henry Kapono (C&K), Tony Conjugation,.. oh yeah, and the Brother's Cazimero - Robert & Roland Where in the world they even get that many microphones in one place and no even blow da fuse??? We can see our friend, Ken Makuakane prominently in the film. – Must be one of the Cazimero’s Lei Day shows? Ah dunno.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xq7gXaxImWY&feature=channel_page – Robert & Roland Cazimero – Ka Wailele o Nu`uanu
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aw-1V6dFciw&feature=channel_page – Poli`ahu by SmoothRemedy. The bassist last name is Domingo. That one nephew Duke???
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-3GYM4o8Cs - here is Olu143, Braddah Sam and his friend, Kris Boyer, playing Bob Dylan’s “Knocking on Heaven’s Door”.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF5iRBMGafk – you may have seen this on an earlier post about what now, but it bears repeating/wider dissemination. A beautiful “Radio Hula” by Kapena Gomes. Nice, nice. And he even went to school with Zack. Now what you think of that!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6P0MkSHExQ – Cool Kamuela Nights by Li Hing Mui
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ddfrwnY69A – Some slide guitar music on a very nice looking Weissenborn.

Mahalo, Jay. I just like to listen to good music. Plus can meet some pretty nice folks through You Tube. Good thing one time long ago Duke decided to put some videos on You Tube. Lucky for Paul and me.
Here is another one I thought you guys might like. It is a TV promo ad from Channel 9 with Robert and Roland Cazimero, about 25 years ago. If you go to the poster's channel page, you can watch all kind of more vintage Hawaiian TV videos. What fun!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoP46AI8Xmc |
