This link goes to a steel made from a barbeque grill. This guy musta been jamming so long that all the food was gone before he got to eat, so he took care it wouldn't happen again!

Yeah. Very interesting, indeed. I recall some talk about it here sometime back. Definitely space age. A truss can either amplify or damp vibrations, so ... oh, hell, I don't know. With a pickup, maybe you don't need a body on a steel. |

That's a radical design. But like Les Paul's original "Log", it doesn't need a body to amplify the sound, only the parts necesary to hold the pickups, strings and tuners.
