Several years ago, while I was visiting on Kauai, my friend and slack key kumu, Hal Kinnaman, asked me to show him how I play some of my slack key arrangements, so that he could teach them to his students. So, he took me to a studio where a photographer videotaped a session in which I tried to demonstrate how to play the songs.
I had filed the tape away until recently, but I was fiddling with a device that allows me to transfer VHS video to my computer, so I chopped out a few of the songs and made my own little videos, using Windows Live Music Maker.
I am sharing six of these videos on YouTube, and I hope that they might be helpful to someone who might want to learn to play these tunes. Three of them pertain to Kauai, the first two are my original compositions, and the first three are on my CD, ‘Kauai On My Mind’.
