I have been so deeply disappointed with the nominations and award winners of the past that I don't even bother reading the announcements or results threads. Not even curious anymore.

Awards? What awards?

I, too, ignore them. Perhaps my tastes just aren't the same as most people's. Or perhaps it is more about 'politics' than about the music. But in any case, I couldn't even name most awards, and certainly have absolutely no idea who won.

As I have said here before, awards are of, by, and for poeple in the music BUSINESS - the suits, aka "the tassle loafer boyz". Music goes on whether they like it or not.

Remember - most of these awards being discussed are INDUSTRY presentations, by those on the business side of music. They are only of interest to the creative artists as far as it has an effect on the business part of what they do.

And those who just love the music for its own sake, with no concern for the business aspects, shouldn't get too worked up about the process or the end result. Just listen to what you like, spread the word to other folks and turn them on to it, find out what your friends are enjoying, and play on.

P.S.) Keaka beat me to it by a few minutes - but I've not worn "tassle loafers" at any point in my life, to my knowledge.

Yeah - I always preferred the Penny Loafers to the Tassel Loafers.

These daze I wear SAS "ProWalkers?" or some such.

What were we talking about?

A better judgment would be a 50 year retrospective to see how well the music "aged" and what impact it had on others.

"Monster Mash" was a huge hit fifty years ago (1962), but not an award-winner. I think that supports your point perfectly.

Yeah ... yeah, right. You guys use so many fancy words. Without Google pics I wouldn't stand a chance. Like Terry and his 'haole roots'.

Thanks to Google, I got it. This lady, Mrs. Hapa Haole, shows up on search word 'haole',

so it's obvious his mom.

Well, using Google Pics for translations, may have it's side. I see that now. Got to admit I was hoping for an introduction. Not the first time I fancy a pals mom, by the way
