Either Jan or I has one of the three that Jay mentioned (to be sorted out later), so the count is at most 2 spots left. Hurry, kids, hurry. Step right up. It's a lot of fun. |

Oh KonaBob,
Could you please send me the info on Feb Camp in a format I can share with my friend Georgiana Clark, something like a paper flyer or something I can print out for her. (Remember Roaring Camp Railroads? She was the CEO.) She expects to be in her home in Kona at the time and I was hoping to include her in some of the activities. She is the daughter of Lei Collins. Actually, she told me she has never attended a workshop and would like to do so if I were there...
Aloha nui loa,

Just a note to say aloha, and I will (sadly) miss camps next year.
Going to Europe with my sweetheart. Not much of the music I cherish, but magnificent mountains, and history, and art...

Oh, wonderful. I'll tell her you knew her Mom, she'll love that.
As she and I were talking I told her it would be really neat if she would tell some stories, you know, of those olden days. She laughed and told me the one about Gabby working two jobs and falling asleep in the Aloha Airlines baggage cart with the tarptent on top, only to be found the next day when they lifted the tarp to start loading the plane...
Georgiana has stepped down from the CEO position at Roaring Camp Railroads, her daughter Melanie now holds the reins. That gives Georgie more time to spend "at home" in Kona during the winter months. Sounds perfect for the timing of next AMC, don't you think?
I went to "Burning Uke X" this last month, brought my long-scale Fry Pan, and one man fell in love with her. Sheesh. He had a Bakelite Richenbacher, and played her on my amp, then he played mine. I have to say that the sounds that came from my Fry Pan were the sweetest I've heard in a long time. Same pick-up, same brand of guitar, but the sound had much more body to it.
Am looking forward to February, hope I can swing it!!!

Hey Larry, QUICK, pick up a piano accordion and start playing. I've been learning "La Vie en Rose" and love the sound of that instrument. (Check for "Dan Newton" on Google, he lives in Minnesota and teaches at Lark Camp in Mendocino, he got me started.)
See, if you learn to play it, you'll fit right in in Paris, and lots of other cities there. Where in Europe will you be visiting?

Hey Larry! I’m in Europe! Specifically Sheffield in the county of Yorkshire in the North of England. Yes, we’ve got mountains, and history, and art, all right. And much much more. It’s a great place and I love it deeply.
But February is a curious month to visit. Where I live it’s usually cold and raining, and it gets dark at about 5 pm – in fact that’s the reason I always came to Camp in the February! I thought it’d be nice to have some sunshine, as well as do some learning! Much as I love Yorkshire, I don’t mind leaving it for a couple of weeks in the winter. ]
It’s true that there’s not much Hawaiian music in Europe (if any at all) - but there’s lots of really great music and great musicians in many other styles, if you keep your ears open.
I hope you have a great trip, whatever the weather!
