I'm very happy to report that I'm finally going to live my dream of attending the Aloha Music Camp this February! Who else going come?

Alas, not me. Going to Oahu in January and in April-May insted, with a detour into Ka'anapali, Maui end of April. I can stay in Kailua, Oahu for a month for what ti costs me to go to Aloha Camp for a week. |

I wish I was, Alika. I've been three times in February, always two years apart. This February I would be due to go again. I've really loved it each time I've gone, and met some great people. The midweek 'open mic' alone is the best in the world. Not only are there some highly talented people, but it is the best audience you could ever wish to play to. By the end of each week, I've learned a great deal - about the slack key, a little about the culture and the history and geography, and a lot of stories!
However, a time of pay freezes, rocketing fuel costs, and so on make it very difficult. In addition, I used to make extra money playing at weddings, but this has really dropped off too.
Still - one day I hope to come back - not for the forseeable. |

I'll be returning in February, with my newly AMC addicted friend Carol Pfaff. I was really hoping to see Trev and Allison, but maybe next year. |

Trev and Allison will be missed.....
Neej, Cynthia and Tommy - it will be great to see you both again in February.
Alika - you will have a wonderful time, and perhaps, like many of us, this will be the first of many camps.
Julie - you were at the first camp I attended and I've been waiting for your return........

E Mark Alan,
Still working out the details, but hiki nō. Will be fun to see you. This is my first February camp... Iʻm feeling kind of...malihini.

Hey Mark,
Which camp was that, do you remember? I went to the early ones at Kalani Honua, then a couple on Molokai (Oh I wish they were still there) and then a couple at Keahou. But at my age, they all seem to melt together into one fantastic trip.

Aloha mai! I'm very much looking forward to playing and singing with and for everybody! It'll be great to meet you guys and share some mana'o!
BTW, after my senior recital in three weeks, I will hopefully have some time to finally post new youtube videos, including my own takes on more of my favorite Hawaiian songs. Look out for them! |
