I got to try the Godin 'ukulele, made in Canada, at a local shop and was very impressed with the individually adjustable string volume, feedback resistance and the somewhat credible acoustic sound of the chambered body. The shop I visited on the Big Island had them marked down to $750 from $800, so the priced seemed reasonable. I didn't buy one because the current model has a compensated saddle set for high G tuning. The shop owner said that Godin will devise an adjustable bridge for low G on future models. That one appeals to me for performing through a PA system. Has anyone else run one of these? The guy at the store said LT Smooth bought one of the first ones he got in.
